The vertical 4" PVC pipes inside studio, through which the cooled water circulates to cool the studio, double as a visual screen for storage. Another wall of pipes is at the south end.
The slab floor helps even the temperature of the space.
Design & Installation: Zomeworks Corporation 2004

Attached are pictures of an installation of our Double Play System at architect Bruce Davis' studio in Albuquerque, NM. The twelve polypropylene Sky Mats racked on the roof act as heat radiators on summer nights. You can see by the graph that their 127 square feet keep the 236 square feet studio at a comfortable temperature even during days with 95 degree Fahrenheit highs. Circulation is by thermosyphon, we have not yet installed a pump for drainback winter heating.
The studio is half of a converted garage. Though it was usually unoccupied during the test period, a gas water heater stands in one corner, and the heat it loses to the room 24 hours a day gives the cooling system an extra load to handle. Bruce reports great satisfaction: no noise, no fan and no added moisture as in his house, which is cooled by an evaporative cooler.
The installation was done by Tim James, a new arrival to Albuquerque and Zomeworks. His very careful work made the plumbing of the forty-two 4" PVC drain pipes a pleasing part of the design. The specially plumbed vertical storage tanks with their 168 connections had not one leak! The storage volume is 200 gallons with 300 square feet surface area.
Our next step will be a roll-formed aluminum or copper roof, which will include waterways so the thermally conductive roof can either radiate heat to the night sky or absorb heat from the sun, according to whether heating or cooling is needed.
